Why the question comes up now

Windows 10 at end of life

Windows 10 has been unsupported since 14 October 2025, and so have Office 2016 and 2019. Windows 11 requires recent hardware: staying with Microsoft often means replacing workstations that still work.

A budget indexed on the vendor

Repeated price rises, AI billed as an add-on, one more licence for every new hire: the cost of Microsoft 365 follows Microsoft’s decisions, not yours.

Your data under US law

Microsoft is subject to the Cloud Act and FISA (section 702). On 10 June 2025, under oath before the French Senate, Microsoft France acknowledged it could not guarantee that French public administrations’ data would never be handed to US authorities.

Frequently asked questions about leaving Microsoft

Windows 10 is no longer supported: do we need new PCs for Windows 11?
Not necessarily. Windows 10 has been unsupported since 14 October 2025 and Windows 11 requires recent hardware. Where usage allows, ekuITy installs Linux on your existing workstations; otherwise, kollaborateur supplies certified refurbished workstations, compatible with Windows 11 or Linux, 40 to 60% cheaper than new.
What can replace Microsoft 365?

Is our Microsoft 365 data hosted in Europe protected from the Cloud Act?
No. The Cloud Act and FISA section 702 apply to US companies wherever the data is hosted. On 10 June 2025, under oath before the French Senate, Microsoft France acknowledged it could not guarantee that French public administrations’ data would never be handed to US authorities.
